Touch Bar The Touch Bar replaces the function keys that have long occupied the top of your keyboard with something much more versatile and capable. The multi-touch, Retina-quality display changes automatically based on what you're doing, from showing traditional system controls, such as volume and brightness, to more directly interacting with or browsing through content. Intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text improve the typing experience, and you'll be able to customize the Touch Bar to fit your needs. The Touch Bar can also adapt to apps, such as Mail, Safari, Messages, and even third-party apps like Adobe Photoshop, so you'll have access to useful functions previously hidden in menus. Retina Display The 15.4' Retina Display has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and features brighter LED backlighting than its predecessor as well as an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations. It also supports the P3 color gamut, which allows for more vibrant colors. This ensures true-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, which are essential for graphic design, color grading, and editing. Force Touch Trackpad The Force Touch trackpad on the 15.4' MacBook Pro is 50% larger than the previous generation. The Force Touch trackpad takes all the capabilities of multi-touch and adds force sensors that detect subtle differences in the amount of downward pressure you apply.
This lets you have a deeper connection to your content, bringing more functionality right to your fingertip. It also introduces haptic feedback to MacBook Pro — allowing you not just to see what's happening on the screen, but to feel it.
With multi-touch, you can use realistic gestures like swiping or pinching to switch between apps, navigate your content, and get the most out of your desktop space. Thinner & Lighter The 15.4' MacBook Pro features a redesigned enclosure design and all-metal unibody construction that creates a rigid and dense notebook that is also thin and light. At just 15.5 mm thin, the 15.4' MacBook Pro is 14 percent thinner and has 20 percent less volume than the previous generation. It is also nearly half a pound lighter at just four pounds. Audio The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide as much as twice the dynamic range and up to 58 percent more volume, with two-and-a-half-times louder bass for maximum boom. Plus, they're connected directly to system power, enabling up to three times more peak power.
MacOS Sierra The 15.4' MacBook Pro runs macOS Sierra, which features Siri integration, Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay on the web, and memories in Photos. Thunderbolt 3 Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously or one multi-panel 5K display.
The Macbook Pro has four ports, with each pair using a dedicated bus. Rated 2 out of 5 by Chris from FAIL Well I put off buying a new Mac for as long as I could and as expected this new one sucks. The processing power is great but the ergonomics of it are just stupid. The touch bar is a complete fail as it takes more presses than before to do the same tasks and if you are using photoshop forget about it. You will be constantly accidentally changing volume, brightness and a range of other things you didn't mean to do. When I use PS I usually have my left hand on the command key with my fingers speed to the + keys.
This is just not possible anymore as you inadvertently hit a range of other stupid commands. I expected an 'upgraded' product, which I got in terms of processor speed and weight. I suppose I'm still getting used to other features. For example, the touch bar can be very convenient. The large trackpad slows me down due to the distance to control features.
Also, I actually don't like the 3D feature, making dragging and dropping tricky (no problem with external mouse). That fact that Apple has no ports other than USB-C means extra expense getting a docking station (which conflicted with the WiFi). My biggest gripe is battery power.
I have only about 3 hours use on full charge, not near the 10 specified. And this, for browsing and email applications only. Not acceptable for a new computer! Rated 4 out of 5 by Vincent from Do you really need a touch bar? I love the macbook.
I'm a graphic designer and the upgraded specs with the upgraded graphics card really help when we're doing 3D work and design in general. As every is already saying, having a completely closed system is frustrating but we bought an adapter hub from a third party company that seems to be fine. The touch bar is funny. It's currently not really practical and I don't really need it. I feel myself going out of my way to use it, but it's unnecessary in my current work flow, but I didn't buy it for the touch bar. I bought it for the specs and so it's been great.
Rated 5 out of 5 by barry from great pic, nice keyboard, rest is Mac (which is good) My only negative is that i hate, hate, hate the supersized touch pad - but that's a modern issue not exclusive to Macs. The pad is just the right size to allow your palm, another finger, whatever to conduct unintended touches which move the cursor all over the place and you find the last line you typed is 'way over there - assuming you can find 'there' - rather than right here where you intended it. Beyond that my transition to the new MacBook Pro has been easy and the colors and resolution on the screen are terrific. A good buy in my opinion. I was apprehensive about the 15.4 screen size since I was used to the 17 screen, but pleasantly surprised.
I also appreciate the fact that you can hook the laptop up to 2 HDMI high res monitors to get an even bigger work space. Sort of a pain to have to look for Thunderbolt to something adaptors at $39.99 ea adaptor but I love the capacity of the Mac Book Pro. The design is incredible beauty, but if you are a professional this kind of things dont mater. I have a 2015 macbook pro and was amazing, i sell to made an upgrade (big mistake). 1- This is a computer for WORK traveling. I dont want to stay with adaptors, connectors, etc. This have USB-C than is 'good' but the world isnt prepare for made a radical change. This computer MUST TO HAVE one HDMI, one SD reader integrated, almost 1 USB and a thunderbolt 2. Im sorry, but you cant do this 'migration of tecnology' like this.
Now i have one bag with A LOT of conector, adaptors because all the external hd, memories, etc in the world use thunderbolt 2 and USB3. I repeat, this is a machine for work! Nobody cares about if is more thin than other.
WHO CARE THAT? By the way, feels like this will break in the first work you do outside. 2- Powerfull. Sorry, this ISNT a PRO. One machine with 4 cores, i7, 16GB of ram and you cant handle Photoshoot, Lightroom and Premiere PRO.
This isnt a pro machine. Im not talking of WORK with the tree programs at the same time, but you try to open the 3 softwares and the cores quickly full and the music in youtube stop working. I repeat, this is a computer for work, this system than charge by USB-C is the WORST idea in the world. First, you loose a port if you want to use this as a desktop computer or in periods of to much work. You loose other with the HDMI converter. So you have only 2 ports free.
Yes, you can use the ports for more than one thing, but start the problems. Other BIG mistake, takeoff the LAN port, like the 2015. This is necesay, NOBODY cares if is one inch more thin! I hope Apple stay care about the professionals, and do equipments for us. The MacBook PRO isnt for a pro. The touch bar has become something that I use intuitively now and appreciate the added options it offers.
I didn't know if I would like the keyboard at first as the key depression is shallow but I know have grown to really like the soft touch needed to type and the feeling of the keyboard all together. The display and sound are amazing. I am using the computer mostly for non-professional video editing and work related tasks.

The power adapter is big and heavy. I haven't had this a month yet, so I thought a 5 star review was premature, but I really like this machine. I'm coming off a 5 year old iMac, so this is about 1,000 times faster. I like all of the updates so far, though I do wish they'd kept a SSD slot as I work with photos 50% of the time. It's still hard to find simple things for usb c/thunderbolt 3 adapters.

I suspect that will change as more and more machines move to this standard. Note: usb c and thunderbolt 3, while physically identical, are not the same thing. Thunderbolt is about 4 times faster than usb c, that's confusing when trying to find adapters for monitors and flashdrives and such. I have a 13 MacBook pro at work and I like the new keyboard on this one better, the keys are wider and shallower. Screen is perfect and the touch bar has a lot of promise. It already makes deleting photos out of Lightroom easier, but as of this writing Adobe hasn't put any more touchbar functionality into Lightroom. The touchbar is also helpful in iCal and Mail and Finder once you get used to it (all apple products).
The cord is no longer hardwired to the power adapter as it has been in every mac laptop up until now, and the power adapter no longer has those two braces that fold out to wind the cord around as now the cord is detachable.

I am having a problem seeing any thing that is a PES format, they show up as a PDF file, I can open in another software to see what it is, even though it is a pdf file. All other formats are viewable with a picture. Also, my PDF software will not open.
I have uninstalled Thumbnailer, and reinstalled, still the same thing. I have not uninstalled PDF.

But when I had Thumbnailer uninstalled, the PDF worked to open instructions, etc. I have opened a ticket several days ago, but have yet to get a reply. Can somebody help or tell me what to do. I feel like it is in the Thumbnailer program. I am so frustrated. OH, the program has worked perfectly until about the last two weeks, as did the PDF. Just strange Thanks Kay in East Texas.
