I've been using chrome on my macbook 15' 2015 for a long time and I finally realised that it will never get better and that I need to move to either Safari or Firefox if I want a better browser performance. Now, obviously Safari is lighter and faster than Firefox. However, it lacks so many add ons offered by Firefox browser. Which is why I'm asking you guys right here, which one do you guys personally use? I also heard some reports that the latest Firefox drains battery on mac very quick, is this true? Cheers,. I may have different priorities: Close tab buttons are on the wrong (i.e. Different than all the other apps on macOS) side, no clever use of modifier keys in menus (including Close All Windows), searching for tab or return characters isn't possible (useful in tables), no zooming via trackpad, no menu entries for some features (making it impossible to change the keyboard shortcut for switching tabs, for example), and for some reason, the continuous blinking of the text cursor while moving it makes me lose the focus. Yeah, the close tabs button is in a counter intuitive place for the rest of the OS level stuff - that's the type of stuff I USED to be able to change before FF dropped support for legacy extensions. That said, I mostly use the OS standard Ctrl+W to close a tab. Lots of apps don't use modifier keys in menus, especially when things like close all windows are available using Shift+Ctrl+W.
Sure it lacks some features Safari has, things like the search that you mentioned, although its not something I've ever done so wouldn't know about that specific feature. There might be an extension that supports it? Same with zooming - it's not like iOS where stuff isn't designed to be seen at a specific size. For me, its both more the breadth of extensions that make it so powerful (although somewhat less powerful than before). I don't understand how anyone can disagree with the assertion that it feels non-native. No rubber-band scrolling. No pinch-to-zoom.

There really isn't anything I personally miss about Safari when using FF. And it certainly doesn't feel like a port to me (but feelings are subjective to the individual). As with most things its a trade-off. Neither is perfect. For some, small things like cool animations can be the thing that swings them towards one solution, for others it could be the breadth of customisation, for others there'll be one random feature that they just can't live without etc. FireFox baby; really fast and YouTube is usable again.
I've been having two problems with Safari and YouTube. Some videos freeze at 1 second and I have to scrub to get them to play. Some videos will freeze the machine when coming out of full screen, longest it's taken is a minute for the machine to be usable again. Really really happy that neither of these problems occur with FireFox, every time I come out of watching YouTube in full screen, I am still blown away at how fast it is.
Am also enjoying the new FireFox theme. There's a couple of minor things I don't like. Right click to correct typos, shows options in bold.
