Is the streaming slow on the local network or remotely? In general, any IP camera or NVR is using the same RTSP (real time streaming protocol) that is similar to HTTP. Often you need to fine tune frame rate/resolution to get good throughput.
The architecture of most IP camera systems is such that the RTSP streaming for remote live-view is coming directly from each camera and the NVR is just routing the live-view stream to the remote devices. Some NVRs have what's called 'zero channel encoding' to serve up a faster multi-channel streaming view to remote devices. How are cameras connected, wired? How many cameras?
Keep in mind that If the IP cameras that use RTSP are ONVIF compliant you can use any viewer that can view RTSP streams. This means programs like Apple Quicktime, VLC Viewer. Winamp or even Windows Media Player.
